Leeds is home to the longest-established and most highly regarded colour and textile science activities in the world.
The Centre for Colour and Textile Science brings together the University of Leeds’s unique expertise in colour chemistry, colour physics, advanced textile materials, textile technology and textile manufacturing research. Our vision is to drive and to deliver ground-breaking research and innovation outcomes, through multi-disciplinary research activities. In collaborations with external organisations and industry we are responding to the growing national and international market demand for improved understanding, skills, innovation and market-leading products to address important colour and textile-related challenges.
Colour and Textiles on the same Leeds campus traces its history back to 1873 with the establishment of the Yorkshire College of Science. In 1904, the College became the University of Leeds and the institution is now one of the largest higher education establishments in the UK and a member of the Russell Group of Universities.
